A recent poll conducted by Britain’s Royal Society found that what Britons want most is a vaccine that will prevent cancer, with nearly 80% of respondents selecting it as their top priority for science. Of the 2000 people surveyed, 60% picked HIV/AIDS prevention as their next choice. Although 44% expressed a belief in aliens and more than one-third think scientists should be trying to find and contact them, less than 10% identified space exploration as a top priority for science.
