CNS metastases occur in about 50% of patients who have HER2-positive breast cancer. During imaging, metastases previously unseen are being discovered in both HER2-positive and triple-negative disease.
According to White, these new metastases provide an opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of systemic therapy agents in combination with radiation therapy.
