Andrew Vickers, PhD, attending research methodologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, discusses some potential uses of MRI testing for patients with prostate cancer.

According to Vickers, there are 3 main ways to use MRI's for patients. The first is to improve the specificity of the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test. A second way is to improve the sensitivity of biopsy which can help find the missed clinically significant lesions. The third possible way to use an MRI is in the repeat biopsy setting.
