Dr Hasunuma shares that the objective of mentorship is to foster care, trust, and respect in mentor-mentee relationships and create authentic connections.
Welcome to OncLiveOn Air®! I’m your host today, Kaci Treasure.
OncLive On Air® is a podcast from OncLive®, which provides oncology professionals with the resources and information they need to provide the best patient care. In both digital and print formats, OncLive® covers every angle of oncology practice, from new technology to treatment advances to important regulatory decisions.
In today’s episode, we had the pleasure of speaking with Linda Hasunuma, PhD, assistant director of the Center for the Advancement of Teaching at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, about key points discussed at a workshop hosted by the University for a collaborative audience of fellowship mentors and mentees. During the workshop, she focused on the importance of mentorship and the lack of formal training for faculty mentors. The rationale behind developing the workshop was to encourage intentional and thoughtful mentoring practices, considering the diverse identities of both mentors and mentees.
In our exclusive interview, Dr Hasunuma shared that the objective of mentorship is to foster care, trust, and respect in mentor-mentee relationships and create authentic connections. She also emphasized the value of regular communication and personalized approaches to meet the unique needs and goals of mentees.
