Fox Chase Surgeon Sanjay S. Reddy to Participate in Inaugural Society of Surgical Oncology Career Catalyst Mentorship Program

Sanjay S. Reddy, MD, FACS, of Fox Chase Cancer Center was recently chosen as a participant in the Society of Surgical Oncology’s inaugural Career Catalyst Mentorship Program.

Sanjay S. Reddy, MD, FACS, an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, was recently chosen as a participant in the Society of Surgical Oncology’s (SSO) inaugural Career Catalyst Mentorship Program.

"It is truly an honor to have been selected for this highly competitive award offered through the society," said Reddy. The SSO is a global organization of over 3,000 surgical oncologists whose mission is to improve multidisciplinary patient care by advancing the science, education, and practice of cancer surgery worldwide.

The Career Catalyst Mentorship Program is aimed at providing support and opportunities for mid-career surgical oncologists with leadership potential. Participants are matched with SSO member mentors based on their interest in several categories, including hospital administration, research leadership, academic surgical leadership, hybrid or community practice systems, education leadership, and cancer center directorship.

The program will begin ahead of the SSO 2024 Annual Meeting, which is being held March 20-23 in Atlanta. Program participants will take part in an educational session that will include topics such as leadership skills and organizational leadership.

"This mentorship program will pair me with an academic leader in surgical oncology and will include participation over a two-year timeline, as well as a five-day observership at the host mentor’s institution. There will also be bimonthly webinars for the duration of the award, which, I’m excited to say, will provide a long-term structured mentoring relationship," said Reddy.

In addition to serving as Program Director of the Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Fox Chase, Reddy also holds the Marvin S. Greenberg, MD, Chair in Pancreatic Cancer Surgery and is a Co-Director of the Marvin & Concetta Greenberg Pancreatic Cancer Institute.

He has had an active role in mentorship at Fox Chase, both in teaching residents and fellows, and as a mentee under the instruction of John Hoffman, MD, FACS, a world-renowned pancreatic cancer surgeon and former Marvin S. Greenberg, MD, Chair in Pancreatic Cancer Surgery.

"I am very excited to be taking part in this program and look forward to making the most of these important learning opportunities. This award will serve as a mechanism to advance my personal and also our institutional footprint within academic leadership for surgical oncology," said Reddy.
