Dr. Ross on the Treatment of Liver Metastasis in Melanoma

Merrick I. Ross, MD, professor, Department of Surgical Oncology, Division of Surgery, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, discusses treatment for liver metastasis in patients with melanoma.

Liver metastasis is a very difficult problem for a variety of reasons, explains Ross. It’s possible that the active immunotherapy agents may not be as effective in the liver.

Of the patients who have metastatic disease, 95% of them will have some component of liver metastasis, states Ross.
