Evan R. Goldfischer, MD, MBA, FACS, director of the Research Department at Premier Medical Group of the Hudson Valley, discusses the benefits of integrated medical groups.
The objective of integrated medical groups is to deliver the best value of care at the least cost, Goldfischer says.
In groups that are not integrated, there may be a lack of communication between the different practices, which could lead to duplicated imagining studies, tests, or procedures.
Integrated medical groups take a team approach in caring for the patient and are more likely to have better doctor-to-doctor and doctor-to-patient communication, less likely to have duplications, and may deliver better outcomes, Goldfischer says.
