Intellisphere, the publisher of Oncology Net Guide, will launch a dynamic Internet oncology news and information hub in March, along with a rechristened version of the print magazine linked to the vibrant new content on the Website.
The OncLive.com Website will feature daily reports from oncology conferences, breaking news from academic research centers, original research, the latest FDA developments, and a lively compendium of news and features from the growing Intellisphere family of oncology and medical online and print resources. It also will provide links to expert bloggers and social networking options as well as the ability to access information in iPad and other electronic formats.
The print editions of Oncology Net Guide will be renamed OncLive, with a sharper focus on content that captures the fast pace of oncology research and technology. New sections will feature oncology specialty news, guidelines updates, evolving explorations of molecular pathways, and profiles of the people and companies responsible for
advances in the field.
As always, the magazine will provide its hallmark Net Guides so that busy oncology healthcare professionals can keep up with Internet offerings about various cancer-related sites without investing the time to surf the Net themselves.
“We’re taking another giant leap in our continuing efforts to provide oncology specialists with timely, accurate, and important information they can translate into their daily practices,” said Peter Ciszewski, president of Intellisphere’s Oncology Specialty Group. “These are exciting times in oncology research, and our information team is dedicated to finding new ways of bringing those developments to oncology specialists.
“Oncology Net Guide always has been a groundbreaking publication, and we will continue that tradition,” Ciszewski added. The print publication that is now Oncology Net Guide debuted in 2000 as a booklet-size snapshot of oncology offerings on the Internet. Published 6 times a year, the magazine was the first publication to focus on cancer-related Internet resources at a time when the information highway was in its early stages.
The magazine has since grown into a monthly publication with a circulation of more than 20,000 medical oncologists, radiologists, hematologists, and pediatric oncologists.
“The success of Oncology Net Guide over the years mirrors the rapid growth of Intellisphere’s entire oncology franchise,” Ciszewski said. “We’ve found ways of meeting the information needs of oncology healthcare providers that distinguish us from other publications.”
The Intellisphere suite of oncology publications includes Oncology & Biotech News, focusing on clinical research and oncology news; OncLive Nursing, designed to serve the growing specialty of oncology nursing; Contemporary Oncology, a peer-reviewed journal featuring original research and commentary; and Oncology Fellows, a unique magazine that tackles the concerns of new oncology researchers.
In addition, the company has developed the popular Educated Patient™ series of Internet resource guides. The series includes separate booklets for patients suffering from cancers of the lung, breast, prostate, brain, and lymphomas as well as a guide to supportive care resources.
Intellisphere, LLC , based in Plainsboro, NJ, is a medical publishing company whose titles include Pharmacy Times, The American Journal of Managed Care, The American Journal of Pharmacy Benefits, and the MDNG family of magazines.
