The ADAURA study demonstrated that adjuvant osimertinib was associated with a reduction in the risk of disease recurrence or death of approximately 80% vs placebo in patients with stage IB to IIIA lung cancer whose tumors harbored 

 mutations, according to Arnaoutakis. Patients received treatment until disease recurrence or up to 3 years, Arnaoutakis adds. The primary end point of the study was disease-free survival, and a key secondary end point was overall survival, Arnaoutakis adds.

The Independent Data Monitoring Committee recommended unblinding the study early due to the efficacy data that had been demonstrated with the agent. Randomized patients were followed for at least 1 year, Arnaoutakis concludes.
